Discover an enjoyable way to learn piano by turning to Marianna Rashkovetsky. She is an experienced piano teacher in Acton, MA, with a private studio where she helps students ages 5 to 85. Her studio has two Steinway grand pianos and an extensive library of music scores and CD recordings. She uses these in her piano lessons, practice sessions, and listening activities.

I was born in Moscow, Russia and began studying music at the age of six years old. At the age of twenty-five I graduated from the Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow, with a degree in solo piano, chamber music, accompanist, conducting, and choir with honors. At my final solo performance at Gnessin, I played three Scarlatti sonatas, Prelude and Fugue by Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff concerto No. 3, and Debussy’s The Joyful Island.

I’ve been teaching piano for forty years. For 26 years I was a teacher at Indian Hill Music Center (which has since relocated to Groton, Massachusetts and renamed Groton Hill Music Center). For five years I taught at Interharmony International Music Festival. In 2017 and 2022 I received an award for “Top Piano Teacher” from M. Steinert and Sons in Boston, Massachusetts. I am a former member of American College of Musicians and a member of the Massachusetts Music Teacher Association.

Marianna’s studio holds at least two recitals annually, where students can demonstrate their achievements and listen and learn from other students. She has also prepared students for various competitions and music festivals.

However, her true passion as a piano teacher lies in making students enjoy and love music for the rest of their lives. Her process for choosing music for her students involves playing different pieces and asking them to choose what they like. She teaches her students to practice smart so they enjoy the process of practicing while accelerating their progress during the year.

In my private studio in Acton, Massachusetts there are two Steinway grand pianos and a large library of music scores and CD recordings which I provide to my students for their lessons, practicing, and listening. I have prepared students for many different competitions and music festivals. My studio holds at least two recitals per year where students can demonstrate their achievements and listen and learn from other students.

My goal is to teach students to enjoy and love music for the rest of their lives. When I select music for my students, I play several pieces for them and let them decide which one they like the best. I use a method that teaches students to practice smart so they can enjoy practicing, and which accelerates their progress during the year.

I am a strict teacher with a great sense of humor and a great love for children and try to create a friendly atmosphere at the lessons so that everyone, including the parents, can enjoy their lessons.
